HOMEOWNER SERVICES

For Homeowners

I work primarily with busy professionals who want to be able to step outside their door and take a deep breath and a moment for themselves, surrounded by nature. In the evening they also want to be able to kick back, relax and share that space with family and friends.

Whether your garden has been left a muddy mess after renovations, feels outdated, or simply doesn’t suit your lifestyle, I bring together design expertise and plant knowledge to completely reimagine your space.

I transform underused outdoor spaces into personalized, plant-filled retreats that seamlessly integrate with the home you’ve created. My focus is on abundant, thoughtfully designed planting, with a restrained approach to hard landscaping—letting nature take centre stage.

Throughout the process and beyond, I provide guidance and support to help you keep your garden thriving. I believe in a collaborative approach, where I listen carefully to your vision and help you craft a brief that reflects what you truly want. Together, we’ll explore options to create a natural escape, embracing the beauty of seasonality, colour, and scent to create a space that fosters calm, connection, and wellbeing.

Enjoy watching the changing seasons in your own private sanctuary, filled with scent, colour and wildlife

The Process

Concept Design phase

FOR PROJECTS UNDER £10k

Concept Design Phase only may work for you if your project is very small and straightforward.

Measured survey by us or by others depending on complexity.

Site Analysis Soil samples, light and wind conditions, views, photographic survey.

Concept Design Two scaled sketch options, Pinterest mood board to discuss materials and planting, meeting to discuss and agree on preferred sketch.

Presentation Plan phase

FOR PROJECTS UNDER £20k

A Concept Phase + Presentation Plan Phase is more appropriate here so that you can visualise your garden and have the opportunity to discuss and refine the design until it’s just right.

Refinement of preferred sketch option Preferred concept design is refined using 3D sketches and refined moodboards to explore materials and planting. Two iterations of the concept design are included.

Presentation Plan A coloured plan is produced with notes indicating what kind of materials and planting will be in each area. This drawing will be adequate to enable budget quotes from contractors but will not include a detailed specification, dimensions, construction details or planting plan, meeting to present.

Construction Detail phase

FOR PROJECTS OVER £20k

At this level of investment a Concept Phase + Presentation Plan Phase  + Construction Detail Phase is more appropriate to ensure that the detailed vision remains that of the garden designer not the landscaper.

Setting out drawings on CAD Detailed dimensions, levels and specifications added to enable full pricing and construction including any lighting & irrigation plans.

Details for construction Unusual or complex details are designed in detail.

Specification Detailed specification of both hard and soft landscaping.

Tender Detailed design is sent out to tendering contractors with a covering letter.

CDM Designer’s insert provided for inclusion in Principal Designer’s Health & Safety File.

SITE MONITORING (optional add on for site detail phase)

A full service from the first meeting through to visiting to confirm that the construction is complete is an investment to create a beautiful, carefully considered garden that will provide enjoyment for many years to come.

Initial site visit Discuss the design with the contractor and aid in setting out so that the best start is made.

Interim site visits Site visits at intervals agreed with the client and landscaper to ensure the design is being followed and any queries can be discussed and addressed. If plant supply is requested one of these visits will be to take delivery of and set out the plants.

Final site visit Final visit to ensure design is complete, discuss any snagging to be completed and discuss maintenance.

Planting Design

Can be added to any of the Phases above or can be engaged as a stand alone service

Planting Plan Plans showing positions, numbers and full Latin names of plants.

Shoot Maintenance Plan I will share my subscription to ‘Shoot’ gardening relating to your garden for 1 year post planting , which provides monthly maintenance advice emails for existing and proposed plants in your garden. See www.shootgardening.com

I offer a flexible service where the work phases can be provided separately or all together, depending on your needs. As a guide, my design charges start at £450. A medium sized London domestic garden is likely to cost in the region of £30,000 + VAT to build with full design services charged at around 15% of the construction cost. This is a very rough guide as costs (both to build and to design)  vary relative to size, complexity and the ratio of hard to soft landscaping.
