Catriona Rowbotham Garden Design is based in south east London and primarily works with clients based in London and the surrounding counties.
Blending her architectural expertise with a passion for gardening, Catriona has built a career around her values of sustainability, biodiversity, wellbeing, and accessible beauty. Her architectural journey began in Highland Perthshire in 1991 with Gaia Architects Scotland, sparking a deep interest in sustainable design. Later, she was inspired by her time with Dominique Perrault in Paris, and her work for leading architectural design practices in London.
Seeing firsthand the demand for garden design through her architectural projects, she initially offered it as an extension to her services. But soon, it became clear that garden design was her true calling. By 2019, she was back at The English Gardening School, where she originally trained, but this time as a tutor. Her career pivot then became final after winning a public courtyard design competition in 2021.
Her designs are seamlessly integrated with surrounding architecture, and clients value her calm, organized approach. They also appreciate her knowledge of planting design and seasonality, her attention to detail, and her collaborative style that results in truly unique gardens with lasting beauty.
